Overview

Andrea Prencipe is the Rector of Luiss University and Full Professor of Organization Theory and Innovation. He has held positions at SPRU-University of Sussex, INSEAD, University G. d’Annunzio; he has been Visiting Professor at BI Norway, Imperial College Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, and Honorary Professor at SPRU-University of Sussex. Andrea has been an invited speaker at such universities as Harvard Business School, University of Michigan, London Business School, Oxford University, and taught courses at Solvay Business School, Brussels, and at the National Economic University, Hanoi.

Andrea is interested in understanding and acting upon the evolution of universities’ educational models. Since his appointment as Deputy Rector of Luiss and then Rector, Andrea has led the design of academic programs at the intersection of disciplines such as the BA in Management and Computer Science, and the MSc in Global Management and Politics. He is convinced that graduates must develop an expertise in one discipline and at the same time acquire an ability to converse with experts from a variety of other disciplinary backgrounds. To put it tersely, they must be Specialised-Generalists. Andrea is also convinced of the fundamental importance of the internationalisation of academic research and teaching: graduates must learn to be global citizens.

Andrea is an expert on innovation-related issues in firms (including management of technological and organizational innovation), on organizational learning in project-based organizations, on the implications of modularity on the division and coordination of labour, on the relationships between regional social capital and innovation processes.

Andrea is Associate Editor of the Journal of Management Studies. He sits on the editorial boards of Industrial and Corporate Change, Organization Science, International Journal of Project Management, Research Policy, and Long Range Planning.
