On the way to COP23

{{item.title}}

Bonn, November 14th, 2017

The  Harvard Environmental Economics Program and Enel Foundation will be present @COP23 in Bonn. The two institutions have collaborated since 2012 – on both a multiflag capacity-building program on energy-policy and on research on climate policy. The collaboration has developed seven discussion papers to-date, addressing important topics in international climate policy - subsequently presented at specific UNFCC COP side events.

In Bonn we are pleased to present the latest two papers, focused on fundamental levers for enabling the energy transition: The Political Economy of Carbon Pricing Policy Design by Joseph Aldy and, Linking Heterogeneous Climate Policies (Consistent with the Paris Agreement) by Michael Mehling, Gilbert Metcalf, and Robert Stavins.

Commenting on the new researches, Giuseppe Montesano, Deputy Director of the Enel Foundation said: Such scholarly work is testimonial to the extremely important work that HEEP does and an important input to COP-23, where these papers will be presented and discussed. These papers are proof of the benefits of open collaboration and of this specific partnership.

Robert Stowe, Executive Director, Harvard Environmental Economics Program, stated: Our collaboration has yielded important insights into climate-change and energy policy that we believe will prove valuable to international negotiators and national policymakers as they proceed with elaborating and implementing the Paris Agreement.

The Harvard Environmental Economics Program and Enel Foundation will present the two papers on November 14th.
