Chile’s 12th Clean Energy Ministerial and 6th Mission Innovation Ministerial (CEM12/MI-6) Expo starts on May 31 in a virtual format and will be the most innovative and disruptive event of the year in relation to clean energies. Enel Foundation has been selected by the Chilean Ministry of Energy to attend and present at one of the 36 Stands the latest research carried out with SACE on new risks and opportunities determined by social compact trajectories, climate change challenges, and energy sector transformations.

The CEM-MI Expo (31/05 – 06/06) will be a virtual space where international organizations, private companies, academia and NGOs will show their latest initiatives in clean energy and energy innovation, and share experiences with all the participants and the international community. It consists of three pavilions (Atacama, Andes-Pacífico and Patagonia), that will be virtually located in the North, Center and South areas of Chile, each with 12 stands that can entirely be toured by visitors.

The crisis spawned by COVID and its social implications suggest we are currently dealing with a syndemic rather than a pandemic, in a period of human history characterized by two emerging phenomena i.e. an unconcealed climate change crisis and progressively rapid energy transition opportunities.

The risks to fall short in recognizing threats and opportunities of this new normal have not yet become part of the more traditional Country Risk Classification Methodologies. In order to provide more comprehensive assessment and new decision making tools, Enel Foundation has developed – starting with the SACE Risk Map 2021 - a new methodology that highlights the fundamental role of Energy and Financial Communities in ensuring equitable wealth distribution by fighting climate change and speeding up the energy transition.

The virtual event will offer great networking opportunities, aiming to recreate the conversations and contacts that take place within face-to-face events. To view any content, participate in the Expo and visit the CEM 12/MI6 Stands, it is required to be registered on the website: https://cem12mi6chile.com/
