Presentation of 2022 State of Climate Services Energy Report

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) -  the United Nations System's voice on weather, climate and water - just presented  the new State of Climate Services Report, issued since 2019, in order to provide scientifically-based information to support climate adaptation and mitigation.

The 2022 edition of the report -which saw the contribution of Enel Foundation in the coordination team alongside prestigious partners such as IEA and IRENA - focuses on energy, an issue that is of great significance to communities in every corner of the globe, and that affects every economic sector.

In the words of Prof. Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, WMO “Energy is at the very heart of our response to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change.”

Net zero is the aim – the report highlights – and we will only get there if we increase dramatically the energy transition pace investing in renewables generation sources distributed efficiently by smart resilient grids and striving to enable weather, water and climate services crucial role in the journey to a more sustainable future.
