An event presenting the new degree courses – Ambassadors in Green Technology and Smart Infrastructures – offered by the Politecnico di Milano in partnership with Enel Foundation, was held today in Milan. Enel Foundation and the Politecnico di Milano University have signed a Scientific Knowledge Partnership agreement focused on educational courses for new professional figures working in the areas of green technology and smart infrastructure, targeting a coherent match between the expertise provided and the needs of those two specific sectors. The courses, as part of a Master of Science degree, will provide the students with expertise in specific areas of green and smart technology, along with the digital know-how needed for their future roles, interdisciplinary tools, a systemic approach, and the ability to work in teams on multi-sectorial contexts, examining case stories and challenges.  Enel Foundation, as Scientific Knowledge Partner and Special Advisor of the Ambassador program, will enrich the courses with lectures by its researchers and managers of the Enel Group, who will analyse the new frontiers and opportunities of green technologies and smart infrastructure. On the basis of the potential for future developments of their thesis works, a selected group of students will receive annually grants in the form of thesis prizes, in the framework of this Enel Foundation-PoliMI partnership.

The event began with welcome speeches by Professor Isabella Nova, Deputy Dean of the School of Industrial and Information Engineering (INGIND), and Carlo Papa, Managing Director of Enel Foundation. This was followed by the content description of two sample courses of the program, by Professor Gabriele Masera and Professor Samuele Grillo (Politecnico di Milano), and the two case histories which will be delivered to the students by managers of the Enel Group in the coming weeks. Specifically Mariangela di Napoli, Head of Regulatory Grids for Italy (e-distribuzione) , in her case history will underline the role of the distributor in fostering the diffusion of electrification and production from renewable energies; Gianluca Sapienza, Head of Grid Digitalization (Gridspertise), will present a case history focusing on the importance of digitalization and flexibility services in operating the current electricity network, along with the key role that traditional electrical engineering continues to play.
