World energy for Universities 2023 edition: the power of knowledge for a clean energy future

Since 2016, Enel Foundation in its role of knowledge platform, has hosted Enel’s annual meeting with Academic Partners, as part of World Energy for Universities (We4U), Enel Group’s Academic Partnership Programme, designed to encourage multidisciplinary interchange with universities and research institutes.

The 2023 edition of this symposium will be organized as a series of workshops aimed at sharing views and creating new streams of collaboration in the crucial space of the energy transition.

The meetings will be focused on Enel Foundation’s main research topics, with interaction between corporate and academic executives as well as subject matter experts, fostering synergic approaches to deal with the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.

The first Workshop will address the relation between energy transition and climate mitigation and adaptation. Held on 23 March in Rome, it will be opened by welcome remarks by Francesco Starace, CEO and General Manager of Enel Group, followed by a keynote speech on climate adaptation by Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, World Meteorological Organization.

A first panel discussion on “Adaptation” will see the participation of Massimo Tavoni, Director of the European Institute on Economics and Environment and Professor of Climate Economics at Politecnico di Milano, Piero Pelizzaro, Head of the National Innovation Hub for public Building of Agenzia del Demanio and, Francesca Gostinelli, Head of Group Strategy, Economics & Scenario Planning of Enel Group.

After a second keynote speech by Francesco Profumo, President of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Board Member of EST@energycenter - Politecnico di Torino, Ettore Bompard, Professor of power systems and Scientific Director of EST@energycenter - Politecnico di Torino, Fabrizio Pilo, Professor of Power Systems and Vice Rector for Innovation and technology transfer at Università degli Studi di Cagliari, and Marina Lombardi, Head of Innovation of Enel Grids, will deep dive into “Climate Mitigation”.

The session will end with closing remarks by Michele Crisostomo, Chairman of the Enel Group.

The event, hosted in Rome at Villa Aurelia, will be streamed on a dedicated web platform accessible upon invitation only.
