Transatlantic research cooperation between Enel Foundation and the U.S. Italy Fulbright Commission takes flight

The long lasting collaboration between Enel Foundation and the Fulbright Commission has taken flight, with two different research cooperation programs becoming operational in these days.

In the institutional setting of the FULLBRIGHT ANNUAL MEETING hosted by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale (MAECI), Enel Foundation and Fulbright Commission welcomed the two SAEG interns Camorah King and Mei Butler, two American US talented young energy professional who will spend three months at Enel Foundation supporting the team on research projects on energy transition and climate action.

The scholarships are offered in connection with the Study Abroad Engagement Grants (SAEG) Program, administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ U.S. Study Abroad Branch. SAEG grantees benefit from a funding opportunity designed to encourage strategic engagement with, or in support of, Americans studying abroad.

The initiative was designed for candidates with all degree levels, namely Bachelor, Master and Doctoral with at least two years of studies in the electricity sector in technical, policy, financial or legal fields, and a knowledge of energy technologies, markets, policies or stakeholders engagement. Their tasks will include support to senior researchers in their research activities and specific projects.

In parallel, the two institutions announced the assignment of five scholarships in the framework of the Fulbright-Enel Foundation Climate Change Scholarship Program generated as part of the U.S. Italy Fulbright Commission’s Visiting Student Researcher programme for post-graduates, whose academic and research careers are in relation to climate change.

The five Italian PhD students awarded with the scholarship – Antonio Forte, Flavia Marconi, Valentino Gabriel Martello, Elena Mura  e Alfonso Pandolfi, - will be able to spend a period of research in the United States to complete the doctorate dissertation, which will relate to climate change and in particular will reflect three lines of Enel Foundation’s research, downscaling climate modelling, the analysis of social and economic risks, and technical solutions for energy infrastructure.

Thanks to the scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic year, the five Italian doctoral students will fly to the United States from September/October 2023 spending six months and carrying research at American universities.
