Rome, September 27th, 2017

The special Edition of Aspenia dedicated to Africa’s energy new deal,  devised in conjunction with Enel Foundation, was at the center of the Aspen talks in the Enel Auditorium in Rome.

As the Enel Foundation Chairman, Mr. Starace, writes in the study: as the economies - and the populations - of the African continent grow at remarkable rates, the demand for electric power is increasing accordingly. Renewable energy sources – in abundance in Africa – can supply electricity, while also boosting economic development and even offering relatively quick returns on investment. Innovation and sustainability are the answer.

The debate benefited from the presence of: Mr. Starace; Martin Catchpole, Head of Power and Utilities Europe Middle East and Africa, Credit Suisse; Abderrahim El Hafidi, Secretary General, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco; Mario Giro, Vice Ministro degli Affari Esteri, Roma; Nasser Saidi, Presidente, Clean Energy Business Council and Giulio Tremonti, President, Aspen Institute Italia.

Moderated: Andrea Cabrini, Director, CLASS CNBC
