Enel Foundation to join IFAB as a participating member

Enel Foundation has joined IFAB, the International Foundation for Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for human development, as participating member. IFAB aims to be an independent and influential international focal point for the global scientific and cultural debate on human development, sustainability, and new science, by outlining the emerging and future prospects of scientific and technological development, and the necessary public policies to achieve the development goals established by the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Foundation’s mission is based upon the following three key objectives:

- Reinforce, enhance and promote scientific research and its cross-disciplinary implications, with a particular focus on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence;

- Design scenarios related to economic and social transformations in connection with the great challenges of our times: climate change, health, the exploitation of resources, the management of complex urban systems, and the application of conventional and innovative technologies.

- Validate the role and potential of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in addressing global problems and other issues, with a view to increasing the awareness of these new technologies among the general public, entrepreneurs, and politicians.

To pursue these goals, IFAB promotes, manages, and carries out cross-disciplinary and applied research, training, and dissemination, contributing to making Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region, where it is based, the European hub of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, for a new, inclusive, sustainable, and open form of development.

By joining IFAB, Enel Foundation will further contribute to the common effort for the advancement of knowledge in the field of sustainable development, with a particular emphasis, but not only, on the detailed analysis and modeling of climate change scenarios.
