Enel Foundation continues its scientific research dissemination efforts by collaborating with leading industry events.  Following the presence at Electrify Europe earlier this year in Vienna, next stop is POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2018, an event focusing on regional challenges related to centralised and distributed power generation as well as to power transmission and distribution. This new partnership sees Enel Foundation become the event’s International Scientific Research partner, adding its leading expertise and research-based knowledge on the issues of African Energy transition to the event focused on “Powering up a continent”.

Through a series of original researches, Enel Foundation is helping define new and more effective electrification roadmaps and ensuring renewables and smart grids become more and more the key elements in the journey to African prosperity. In addition, it also carries out several education initiatives, such as the flagship Open Africa Power program dedicated to Master and PhD students from all over the Continent in collaboration with prestigious African and Italian Universities.

POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2018, a three day event from 17 – 19 July, includes an exhibition and a Forum taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, where international business leaders and technical experts convened to discuss the challenge of powering up a continent in which more than 600 million people still lack access to electricity. The conference streams included Electricity Industry Strategy, Thermal Power Generation, Renewable Energy and Power Delivery & Customers.

As exclusive International Scientific Research Partner of POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2018, Enel Foundation will provide research-based support to the elaboration of the conference’s main takeaways and tap into its network of African academic and institutional partnerships to facilitate their dissemination.

In addition, Carlo PapaDirector of Enel Foundation, will be one of the panelists in the closing discussion, focused on “Capitalising the Disruptive Landscape to Ensure Business Growth”.

Within POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa, a special program dubbed The Gen-X Theatre targets the next generation of power sector professionals offering them a unique opportunity to present their ideas and engage with industry leaders and VIPs from around the world. The Gen-X Theatre format includes talks by African industry leaders and presentations by young electrical engineers and post-graduate students from South Africa.
