Enel Foundation is proud to announce a strategic scientific partnership with the International Renewable Energy Agency for the advancement of the global energy transition. IRENA is the global intergovernmental organization mandated to promote the widespread, increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, supporting countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future.

Undersigned by Enel CEO and Enel Foundation Chairman Francesco Starace and IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera, the arrangement will see the parties cooperate in areas of mutual interest with focus on research and education.

The research program foresees joint studies on the development of the green hydrogen economy and analysis of regional market trends, with a particular focus on South American countries.

Adding to last year’s cooperation on Enel Foundation’s Open Africa Power 2020 education venture -  to which IRENA participated as an Institutional supporter - the partnership will see EF and IRENA come together to engage youth and politicians in accelerating a just energy transition for all at local, national, and international levels through the deployment of renewable energy and smart grids.
