The Sustainable Development Solutions Network Europe (SDSN Europe) just published a new report to support EU policymakers in ensuring an economic recovery aligned with the European sustainability agenda. The study - co-written by prestigious partners, among which Enel Foundation - aims at connecting the dots between four major policy initiatives: the European Green Deal, the European Semester, the UN Member States’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the EU recovery plan. The report, Transformations for the Joint Implementation of Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Deal: A Green and Digital, Job-Based and Inclusive Recovery from COVID-19 Pandemic (available here), will be presented today, during a webinar, by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, SDSN President, and Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, SDSN Europe Co-Chair. Our Managing Director, Dr. Carlo Papa, will participate in the panel discussion to highlight the need for policy tools to ensure equality in implementing climate policies, as well as the importance of hybrid metrics to demonstrate the causal link between social/ environmental and financial performance.

In this regard, he commented “The new normal for all systems is characterized by climate change and rising inequality, lately magnified by the effects of the COVID-19 crisis. We need to seize the moment and bounce back stronger thanks to an inclusive recovery reinforced by a well-balanced package of decarbonization policies, while properly measuring the shared valued contribution of private companies”.

The event follows the online masterclass chaired by Prof. Sachs, co-organized by Enel Foundation, that opened last year’s Siena Advanced School on Sustainable Development, and represents another step forward in the EF partnership with SDSN.
