Miquel Roca Junyent

Overview

Miquel Roca Junyent is a practising attorney and Partner-Chairman of Roca Junyent ever since 1962. He’s also Secretary to the Board of Directors of WerfenLife.

After graduating in Law from the University of Barcelona Law School, he became a Lecturer in Administrative Law and International Law at the Universitat de Barcelona (1962-1972). From 1995 until 2017 he was then guest professor in Constitutional Law at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona. He received a Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad de Educación a Distancia de Madrid; Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad de León, Universidad de Cádiz, Universidad de Girona, Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

He’s Secretary to the Board of Directors of Banc Sabadell, Secretary to the Board of Directors of Abertis, Member of the Board of AIGÜES DE BARCELONA, Member of the Board of ACS, and Member of the Board of ENDESA (2008-2021).

Miquel Roca Junyent has also been Member of the Parliament of Barcelona and President of the Catalan Parliamentary Group in the Spanish Chamber of Deputies from 1977 to 1995. Mr Roca was one of the appointed draftsmen of the 1978 Spanish Constitution and the Catalan Statute of Autonomy. Between 1982 and 1995 he was President of the Generalitat de Catalunya's representation at the Commission for Bilateral Cooperation with the State Administration. He has been awarded the Great Cross of Isabel the Catholic, the Great Cross of the Constitutional Order of Merit, the Great Collar of the Order of Civil Merit, the Gold Medal of the City of Barcelona, the Gold Medal of the Madrid City Hall, the Gold Medal of the Community of Madrid, the Great Cross of Merit in the Service of Law and the Cross of Saint George of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Great Cross of Advocacy Merit, Great Cross of San Raimon de Penyafort and Gold Medal of the Aragon Government.

He has been President of the Council of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (March 1997-October 2002) and is President of the Societat Econòmica Barcelonesa d’Amics del País (Barcelona Economic Society of Friends of the Country), Life patron of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation and Patron founder of the Pro Spanish Royal Academy Foundation of the Spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation.
