Overview
Mariano Morazzo is an economist with experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of energy transition and climate policies at national, regional and global level.
Before joining Enel Foundation in 2022 as Deputy Director, in 2021 he has served Enel Group as Head of Energy Transition Polices in Latin America, coordinating Enel’s positioning and advocacy in the Region.
From 2017 to 2020 he acted as the Head of Climate Change and Renewable Energy Policies, overseeing analysis and advocacy on climate policies, including carbon pricing, at global, EU and national level. In this role he coordinated the development of Energy Transition Roadmaps in Latin America and Africa – advocacy projects developed with Governments and Stakeholders, defining policy recommendations for low carbon energy transition looking at 2030 and 2050 timespans.
He joined Enel Group in 2012, at the Enel Foundation as Head of the Socio-Economic Research Area, where he performed research on climate policies, carbon pricing, energy access, impact of energy projects, electric mobility and participated in the establishment of several education programs.
Previously he worked for UNIDO (2009-2010), as international consultant on climate change policy, including carbon pricing support under the Kyoto Protocol to finance Ozone Depleting Substances emission reduction.
As senior advisor for the Italian Ministry for the Environment (2004-2008), participated in the design and implementation of the EU ETS and in international negotiations (COPs) for the Italian Government.
Started its his career as financial analyst, working for, among others, General Electric Co, where he also performed the Financial Management Program.
He holds a Master’s Degree cum laude in Economics and Business Administration and a MSc in Sustainable Energy Management.
