Silvia Burgos Rodríguez

Overview

Silvia holds a MSc degree in Mining Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a PhD in Energy and Fuels Engineering (her PhD thesis won the 2004 National Award from the Royal Spanish Academy of Engineering). She obtained a one-year Erasmus scholarship at the Nancy School of Mines (France) and a postdoctoral position at the University of Limerick (Ireland) for a research project with the company Aughinish Alumina. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in English Language, Culture and Literature.

She has been the Director of 2 Doctoral Theses, 5 Endesa-ICAI Master's final projects and member of 5 Doctoral Thesis Tribunals. She has more than 15 publications, including an international, European and Spanish patent. She is also an expert advisor to the European Commission since 2001.

She started her professional career at EDF in Evry Courcourones, Merlin Gerin (Groupe Schneider) in Grenoble (France) and ENEL-CRT in Pisa (Italy). Subsequently, she worked as a Researcher in the field of coal gasification and mineral matter at ELCOGAS in Puertollano (Spain). In 2004 she joined ENDESA's R&D Unit as an Expert in CO2 capture and hydrogen production. In 2015, she launched Circular Economy initiatives and supported electric mobility projects in Endesa's Sustainability Area, and in 2018 she joined the Enel X Open Innovation team. Silvia is currently a Senior Researcher at the Enel Foundation focused on Materials for the Energy Transition.
