Stefano Pistolese

Overview

Stefano holds a MSc in Energy Engineering - Energy for Sustainable Development from the Politecnico di Milano. He spent one year in Chile to develop projects on sustainable energy for rural communities in the Atacama Desert. Once graduated, he worked as Research Fellow at the Department of Energy - UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development, at the Politecnico di Milano on the Next Production Revolution in Africa. 

Then, he joined the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Team at the United Nation World Food Program as Energy for Food Security Advisor. 

He supported the integration of innovative clean energy solutions in WFP emergency interventions to reduce the impacts of climate change in developing countries. 

Hired by Enel as Energy Specialist in 2019, he worked for developing, planning and implementing the Short-Term Energy Management for Foreign Countries unit to manage solar and wind power plants in Australia, European and African regions. 

In parallel with his professional career, he is a PhD candidate at UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development modelling the energy transition in the African continent to define suitable strategies and energy polices to face the challenge of energy access, sustainability and climate change in emerging countries. 

Stefano joined Enel Foundation as Senior Researcher in May 2022 and brings his expertise of sustainable energy policies for developing countries.
