{{item.title}}

May 17-19, 2022

Our partner Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) will hold in Kigali, Rwanda, the third edition of its Forum in partnership with the Government of Rwanda. The Forum serves as a platform to broker new partnerships, accelerate progress towards SDG7, spur investment towards universal energy access and a just energy transition, and showcase actions and commitments made through the Energy Compacts. The Forum takes place at a pivotal juncture in the final decade to achieve SDG7 and will allow us to build on the momentum from the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy and COP26, generate new and bolder commitments, and spur increased ambition at COP26.

Enel CEO and Enel Foundation’s Chairman Francesco Starace will deliver an opening speech, together with Hon Ernest Nsabimana, Rwanda Minister of Infrastructure; Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of SEforALL; Hon António Guterres Secretary-General of the United Nations; and Michael R. Bloomberg, UN Special Envoy for Climate Ambition and Solutions Founder, Bloomberg LP & Bloomberg Philanthropies.

On May 18th Carlo Papa, Managing Director of Enel Foundation, will contribute to a panel organized by the United Nations Industrial Development OrganizationEnergia, the Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and SEforALL. The title of the panel is “Catalyzing action for a gender-transformative energy transition” and it will bring together representatives from organizations working to empower women in sustainable energy.

The energy transition cannot be achieved unless women equally lead, participate in and benefit from sustainable energy, and that’s why the event also serves as a call to action to develop gender-transformative initiatives and endorse the Gender and Energy Compact

Benedikt Höskuldsson, Senior Diplomat, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, will deliver the welcome remarks. During the panel Carlo Papa will discuss our education venture Open Africa Power and how it strives to achieve gender parity in the power sector in the continent. This year Enel Foundation partnered with SEforALL specifically with this goal, and is proud to see the 2022 intake of the program with a 52% rate of women.

The Forum was first launched in 2017 in New York, then in Lisbon, and this year it will take place in Kigali, Rwanda. Check out the full programme here
